Learn-to-Swim levels

Beginner

This is the first level in the Aquafanatics learn-to-swim program. The focus is on building greater confidence in the water, through gentle and safe submersions, floating and teaching children to swim and float on their backs, unaided. This might be the first time your child swims without you or a carer present and they may be a little nervous, but the friendly teachers will gently support your child to feel safer and more confident in the water.

(Equivalent to level 1 Department of Education)

Advanced

When children join level 1 advanced, they are more confident and comfortable in the water. This level encourages younger kids to learn the foundations of swimming techniques, such as overarm freestyle swimming, and learning to kick on their backs. They will learn basic water safety practices.

(Equivalent to level 2 Department of Education)

Beginner

In this level the kids will learn to swim freestyle with breathing and backstroke with a basic arm action. They will learn to recover objects from the bottom of the pool and how to tread water and signal for help if in difficulty.

(Equivalent to level 3 Department of Education)

Advanced

Along with continuing to develop freestyle and backstroke techniques, in level 2 advanced, breaststroke and butterfly kicking will be taught. They will learn how to roll in the water as a foundation to performing racing turns. More advanced water safety skills will be introduced. You will be amazed at how much your child will learn as they move through this level.

(Equivalent to level 4 Department of Education)

In level 3, your child will learn the correct freestyle breathing technique, backstroke arms, the basics of breaststroke and butterfly technique.  Racing skills like diving and tumble turns are introduced. This level requires good coordination & concentration, and our expert teachers will help your child stay focussed and engaged.

(Equivalent to level 5 & 6 Department of Education)

Our level 4 classes are designed to further develop the techniques of freestyle, backstroke & breaststroke acquired in level 3, and to introduce butterfly fully. The classes include more focus on developing racing skills like starts, turns & finishes. We teach side stroke to further develop water safety skills.

(Equivalent to level 7 & 8 Department of Education)

Once children reach level 5, they are ready to master all four competitive strokes and are taught how to perform efficient racing skills. The intensity and distance covered in these sessions increases, as we prepare them to move into our mini-squad program.

Once level 5 is completed, swimmers are should be ready to move up to our Mini-Squad.

(Equivalent to level 9+ Department of Education)
